NASB is a private, nonprofit organization that serves the needs of Nebraska’s public schools. Since 1918, NASB has been committed to serving school boards across the state. Our mission to enhance public education for the children of Nebraska is assembled upon the beliefs that: Every public school board will govern effectively and with integrity. Every public school board member will understand the importance, and emphasize increased student achievement. Every public school board will practice good stewardship of resources In support of the stated beliefs, NASB provides advocacy, consultation, board development, and training, as well as, district support-service programs for our 260 member school districts and educational service units across the state of Nebraska. The programs are managed by a professional staff, and governance oversight is carried out by a statewide Board of Directors consisting of 23 school board members elected by their peers. Advocacy & Government Relations With your help, NASB is an advocate for public education, local school governance, and YOUR collective voice in the Legislature. Track bills, submit proposals, stay engaged and up-to-date on all of the issues that impact public education throughout the year. Can YOU really make a difference? YES YOU CAN! Board Leadership NASB exists to help prepare new board members for board service and to provide continuous support to the board members. According to research, board members effective in the roles and responsibilities of the board impact improved student learning and achievement through best practice governance, policy, communications, and fiscal responsibilities. Upcoming Events & Registration NASB offers extensive learning opportunities and networking for board members, superintendents, ESU administrators, and district/ESU administrative assistants. These activities enhance local board governance and district leadership through workshops, meetings, conferences, and networking. Programs & Services NASB has a number of offerings for our members, including advocacy, consultation, board development and training, as well as a wide variety of district support-service programs.
